The end of summer is quickly creeping up, but we’ll be screaming for ice cream and all the frozen treats well into cozy season. Here are our top 10 fav frozen treats across the North Fork. And feel free to indulge all year long; we know we’ll be!

Rottkamp’s Ice Cream & Treats
2287 Sound Ave., Baitiing Hollow
Ice cream, waffle nachos, and in-season fruit? BIG yes. This farm stand and ice cream spot is a hit for all with delish ice cream creations and huge wooden climbing structures for the kids. Also, don’t skip the Peaches N’ Cream Sundae; it’s divine. Current hours: Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Snowflake Ice Cream Shoppe
1148 W. Main St., Riverhead
Beloved and for good reason, this Riverhead hot — or should we say cold spot never lets us down. Make an evening out of it and dine on Mexican food next door at Funchos, then walk 40 feet for some of the best ice cream around. Current hours: daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Modern Snack Bar
628 Main Rd., Aquebogue
For the very BEST milkshakes, pop over to the old-fashioned counter of Modern Snack Bar. This landmark restaurant, open since 1950, serves classic American food in addition to its fab milkshakes. Current hours: Wednesday through Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, 12 to 8 p.m.
Bread and Butter & Bottle
5087 Sound Ave., Aquebogue
New to the food and market scene, Bread and Butter & Bottle makes killer homemade gelato. Swing by this sweet spot for provisions to go, and gelato to stay. Current hours: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Treatery
1564 Main Rd., Jamesport
Without a doubt, The Treatery is the cutest spot for sweet (and savory!) treats. While you may have had their famous cookies, their gelato is equally as decadent. Treat your petite crew to a stop at this Jamesport dessert destination. Current hours: Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Patty’s Berries and Bunches
410 Sound Ave., Mattituck
Who knew that berry picking and ice cream would make such an award-winning combo? After browsing the fields berry picking, swing by The Ice Cream Patch for homemade ice cream made with the farm’s own produce. Then, hang in the fenced-in garden to enjoy your ice cream and play lawn games with your kids. Current hours: daily 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Magic Fountain
9825 Main Rd., Mattituck
There’s a reason why the line can stretch down Main Road; this ice cream spot is the real deal, with hundreds of unique flavors all made in-house. There’s something magic about this ice cream fountain, for sure. Current hours: 10 a.m. through 9 p.m., Thursday through Monday.
8 Hands Farm
3745 Cox Ln., Cutchogue
Frozen soft-serve custard and sorbet with a cult following can be found at this farm market tucked on Cox Lane. There you’ll find rotating flavors including classics like vanilla and chocolate, plus farm-fresh options like this week’s cantaloupe sorbet. Current hours: Thursday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dos Ositos Paletas
Stocked at locations across the North Fork, such as Sang Lee Farms and Greenport Harbor Brewing Co., Peconic

When you’re out and about in Greenport, skip the rest and go to Amazing Flavors for frozen treats in fun flavors. Try their speciality shakes, sundaes, smoothies, and more. Current hours: 1 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday; Friday and Saturday, 12 to 11 p.m.; and Sunday, 12 to 10 p.m.
