The North Fork Trail spotlights Playgrounds

No matter what or how much play equipment you have in your own backyard, it always seems that kids are more eager to play for hours when they’re out of their own space. Luckily for us, the North Fork is dotted with great playgrounds. Here are our top ten North Fork playgrounds. See you on the slides!

The North Fork Trail is a recurring feature that spotlights some of the best kid-approved places the North Fork has to offer.

  1. Stotzky Memorial Park

    55 Columbus Ave., Riverhead

    With an all-ages playground, picnic area, sports courts and fields, and more, you can spend an entire afternoon playing at this Town of Riverhead Rec. park. 

  2. Iron Pier Beach

    End of Pier Ave., Jamesport

    Overlooking the Long Island Sound, this playground boasts three racing slides. This playground is best suited for older children with tons of challenging fun features.

  3. George Young Community Center

    446 S Jamesport Ave., Riverhead

    Tucked behind the Riverhead community center sits an engaging play structure complete with an obstacle course and interesting climbing objects. 

  4. Miamogue Point Park

    9 Front St., South Jamesport

    Ideal for your most petite crew, this fenced-in playground features two slides, two climbers, and a pair of swings. 

  5. South Jamesport Beach

    56 Town Beach Dr., South Jamesport

    A beach playground with the ultimate view of the Peconic Bay. Well-suited for both younger and older children.

  6. Veteran’s Memorial Park

    11280 Peconic Bay Blvd., Mattituck

    Fully enclosed with a sprawling playground for kids ages 5+ and an additional playground for the younger kids, plus swings, picnic tables, and a gazebo. 

  7. Cutchogue Causeway Playground

    75 Nassau Point Rd., Cutchogue

    The newest North Fork playground can be found here. Good for kids of all ages and parents who prefer a playground with a view. 

  8. Sang Lee Farms

    25180 County Rd. 48, Peconic

    A playground at a farm stand? Yep! Bribe your kids to go farm stand shopping with the promise of playing on this wooden playground located right at Sang Lee Farms.

  9. Tasker Park

    2580 Peconic Ln., Peconic

    This Peconic playground will exercise both mind and body with obstacle courses, memory games, and musical components. Ample swings and picnic tables round out the destination, making it an ideal spot to hang out for hours.  

  10. 5th Street Park

    End of 5th St., Greenport

    Tucked at the end of 5th Street, this sweet playground features multiple play structures directly on the sand.
