Designed by Chef Úrsula XVII of Disset Chocolate, this unique egg hunt, now in its sixth year, will take you across the North Fork searching for five crafted chocolate egg sculptures.
“The very first egg hunt was actually how I introduced and launched my brick-and-mortar,” said Úrsula. “It started as a way to invite people in, create a sense of discovery, and share what we do in a more playful, accessible way. Over the years, it’s grown into something much bigger — it’s become a tradition for both the community and us, something people look forward to each spring.”
Launched on Friday, March 27, with five clues on Disset Chocolate’s Instagram, the hunt will run through Easter Sunday, April 5, giving participants 10 days to follow clues and search for the five egg sculptures.
Once a sculpture is found, participants are encouraged to snap a photo and post it on Instagram using #17ChocolateEggHunt. Those who capture and share all five hidden eggs will be entered to win one of the signature chocolate creations. Five winners will be announced on April 13 on Instagram.
Don’t celebrate Easter? No problem. All are welcome to hunt for eggs.
“It’s really designed for everyone,” Úrsula shared. “You don’t have to celebrate Easter to enjoy it — it’s about exploration, creativity, and community. Whether you’re seriously hunting for all five eggs or just casually stopping into a few locations, it’s meant to be a fun and memorable way to experience the North Fork in a fun way through chocolate.”
With hundreds of businesses on the North Fork, you might be overwhelmed with where to begin. To start, we’d suggest reading the five clues that Disset shared on their Instagram. With clues like, “Where paper, pen, and cards align, And thoughtful details feel by design, Among the shelves and gifts so fine, Look closely there between each line — Your chocolate treasured egg.” and more, the riddles may help lead you to the hidden eggs.
“We’re very intentional about choosing locations,” added Úrsula. “We look for businesses that feel like part of the fabric of the North Fork — places that are unique, welcoming, and reflective of the community. The goal is for participants to not only find the eggs, but to discover or reconnect with these spaces along the way. Not to mention, we want to make sure they are spread out across the map. So there is quite a bit of coordinating involved.”
What’s even more exciting is that the design of the hidden eggs isn’t random. Each egg is handcrafted with the egg location in mind.
Úrsula shared the process with us, “Each egg is a bit of a process. First, we design them based on locations. I draw them out… then from molding and setting the chocolate, spraying, to the hand-polishing and detail work, they take several days each. They’re really treated as individual pieces — more like small sculptures than just confections. Basically, we start right after Valentine’s Day.”
While you can go it alone, the hunt is meant to be enjoyed with others.
“My favorite part is seeing how people experience it—families exploring together, friends making a day of it, and even people discovering businesses they’ve never stepped into before. There’s something really special about watching the community interact in that way, all centered around something as simple as chocolate,” said Úrsula.
