Art Lab at Hotel Moraine is back for the season, starting this month
Art Lab at Hotel Moraine, a collaboration by Artfully Long Island, Petite North Fork, and Hotel Moraine, was a success in its inaugural year, with monthly open studio sessions throughout the seasons, inviting children and people of all ages to create one-of-a-kind art using recycled and upcycled materials.
These creative and casual art studio pop-ups are back for the 2026 season, kicking off with the first session on Sunday, April 26, from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Art Lab,” said Rachel Flatley, General Manager of Hotel Moraine. “Art Lab inspires creativity, teaches sustainability, and encourages imagination through hands-on experiences that resonate with guests of all ages.”
Art Lab sessions are planned for the following Sundays through October: April 26 and May 24 from 1:30 to 3 p.m., and June 14, July 5 and 19, August 9 and 23, September 13, and October 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Register here for 2026 sessions.
This season, you can expect Art Lab to get even better with new materials, projects, and promotions.
“I've been collecting lots of new materials and can't wait to share them with everyone,” said Artfully Long Island Founder, Nicole Roccaro. “Some new projects you'll see this year include Collage Picture Frames, Make & Melt: Plastic Art, and some fun sewing projects. You can also look out for a bigger and better Maker Station.”
New this year, Art Lab is also offering a 'Buy 3 Classes, Get 1 Free' deal. Reach out to Nicole at artfullylongisland@gmail.com to take advantage of this promotion.
For many, Art Lab became a regular part of their family’s monthly schedule, often meeting up with friends and creating side by side while parents got in on the creative action or relaxed nearby.
“Art Lab is so much more than just an art class. It's an opportunity for children and families to explore unique materials, experiment, construct, and create. And you get to share these beautiful moments with a community where you can make new friends, bring along old friends to share in the experience, or just enjoy some quality family time,” added Nicole. “My favorite moments are when everyone is busy, grown-ups and children are working together, and I overhear the discussion of next steps, what material or tool they need, searching through a stack of papers or a bin of bottle caps to find just the right one, and then the exclamation of a completed project.”
Hosting Art Lab at Hotel Moraine, a family-friendly hotel set overlooking the Long Island Sound in Greenport, has been ideal. From the grounds to the cottage to the on-site snacks and beverages, Hotel Moraine is the perfect partner.
“As a family-friendly hotel, we offer a variety of activities for children, and adding Art Lab to our programming feels like a natural extension,” Rachel shared. “Focused on sustainability, community, creativity, and nature, Art Lab reflects the shared ethos of Hotel Moraine — enhancing the experience for our youngest guests in a thoughtful and inspiring way.”
Nicole agreed, “The backdrop of the Long Island Sound, the clear sky, and the green grass are inspiring and calming. The cottage allows us to keep our materials organized and protected from the wind, while the deck and sprawling lawn allow for a variety of areas for seating and workspaces.”
Hotel Moraine is located at 62005 County Rt. 48 in Greenport. The hotel welcomes both visitors and locals alike — stop in any day of the week for a coffee, cocktail, or light bite. Enjoy live music every Saturday (plus Thursdays, June through August) from 5–7 PM, alongside food and drink specials. Look out for a season full of exciting collaborations and pop-ups ahead.
