Like everything that Stephanie Sack, founder and shop owner of North Fork Apothecary, does, her newest addition to her Cutchogue store is thoughtfully designed and curated with children in mind and intention at the forefront.
“My main consideration was to put intention first,” Stephanie Sack shared. “Only choosing ethically sourced and crafted items. It's the same philosophy I’ve always used when choosing products for The Apothecary.”
After hearing constant requests from her clients, Stephanie has decided to stock children’s clothing and goods at her shop. The cozy, dedicated room set in the far right corner of the North Fork Apothecary, newly known as the Little’s Room.
“Like the shop in general, it was all born from necessity,” said Stephanie. Living full-time on the North Fork for many years, it was so hard to find quality clothing, skincare, and home goods without going to the Hamptons or the city. That’s how I ended up with a shop. Over time, clients kept asking for kids' gifts, but to be honest, I was always a bit apprehensive about entering this area. I don’t have any human children, so I was nervous. I select only items I would feel proud to give as gifts to my friends and family.”
The current curated collection includes a stunning selection of hand-knitted sweaters, hats, and toys, as well as books, pajamas, blankets, art, and timeless jackets — all perfect for gifting or keeping for the littles in your own life.
Every item that Stephanie has hand-selected features an uncommon level of quality, which is tough to find these days.
“I look for handmade sweaters and well-crafted accessories, toys, and blankets,” she said. “My children's book offering has always been about the simplest things in life: nature, animals, and kindness.”
The edit mostly includes sizes 0 to 12 months, and up to 5T with some outliers, including iconic Barbour jackets that Stephanie’s most petite clientele have even managed to wear.
North Fork Apothecary, which opened its doors in 2022, not only sells quality clothing and goods, and offers interior design services; it also serves as a community hub with the warmest welcome.
“This building has been a community gathering place for almost 200 years, so my goal is that everyone who steps into The Apothecary feels welcome,” added Stephanie. “I offer a little bit of everything with a focus on quality. I’ve been so lucky to meet so many incredible people through the shop. This place is really about building community more than anything else.”
North Fork Apothecary is located at 37070 Main Road in Cutchogue. It is open year-round. Current hours are Thursday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
