Eat at these five North Fork restaurants (and more!) with your petite crew this fall

Kids — typically, while dining out, they’re either throwing a tantrum (hello, toddlers) or wishing they had their own table (hello, tweens and teens). To help take some of the stress out of dining with the whole crew, we’re highlighting five family-friendly, North Fork establishments to visit this season — some mainstays, some new, and some you may not have considered but should!

Jamesport Farm Brewery

5873 Sound Ave., Riverhead

The days of no kids allowed at Jamesport Farm Brewery are gone. Under ownership by the team behind Long Island Farm Brewery at Waterdrinker and Waterdrinker North Fork, the sprawling Riverhead brewery welcomes your whole crew to enjoy food, drinks, live music, and more. Best of all, the brewery hosts food trucks Thursday through Monday, with not one, but TWO food trucks on Saturdays through the season, with plenty of food options for kids. This absolutely counts as dinner, people! Visit here to learn more and check out the latest food truck lineup. Jamesport Farm Brewery is currently open Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from noon to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The brewery is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Jerry and The Mermaid

469 E. Main St., Riverhead

Petite North Fork readers (and your friends) went bonkers over the recent story we wrote on Jerry and The Mermaid’s new family-friendly dining promotion: “Kids Eat Free”, and for good reason. The Riverhead mainstay is truly as family-friendly as it gets. The staff is kind and patient, the food comes out quickly, and the space is inviting and friendly. Take advantage of the generous promo, which runs Tuesdays and Thursdays through spring 2026, where diners receive one complimentary kids’ meal off the regular menu for every adult meal purchased. Jerry and The Mermaid is currently open Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The restaurant is closed on Wednesdays.

Latin Fuzion

53345 Main Rd., Southold

This casual, family-owned Latin-American eatery is in our weekly rotation, and if we’re being honest, it has been for years. It’s a place that has come to feel like an extension of home, where we know each other's names and they have our favorite menu items memorized. But the real standout is that they’ve always been highly responsive to any dietary restrictions, including allergies and sensitivities that our crew had over the years, and that level of attention is appreciated beyond words. The food never misses with a plentiful menu including everything from simple quesadillas to top-notch enchiladas and paella. Latin Fuzion is currently open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 9 p.m.

1943 Pizza Bar

308 D Main St., Greenport

There’s something magical about tucking into Stirling Square and eating insanely good wood-fired pizza while your kids nosh on a marg pie next to you. It’s that simple “This is the good life” feeling that comes to mind that lingers for a long while after you’ve left the table. Sure, 1943 Pizza Bar is tiny with limited seating, but gosh, it’s one wait that’s worth it — we promise. 1943 Pizza Bar is currently open noon to 9 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays, noon to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and Mondays from 5 to 9 p.m. The restaurant is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Tuckers Taproom and Smokehouse

9095 Sound Ave., Mattituck

After a few iterations since Tuckers Taproom opened earlier this year, the Mattituck restaurant and smokehouse has ironed out all kinks and has quickly become one of our fav spots to grab a bite to eat with family and friends. The setting is casual with dining indoors and outdoors on the patio and grassy area with plenty of space for your kid crew to run around — and even play soccer! The menu is stocked with all the smoked meat you can eat and some solid options for kids. (Note: there are vegetarian-friendly options as well.) Enjoy live music Fridays through Sundays. Check the Tuckers Taproom and Smokehouse website for the most up-to-date hours of operation.
