If you’re in the same camp and looking for physically and mentally healthy ways to keep your kids engaged this summer, the North Fork has you covered. Here are five Petite-approved picks for summer fitness and wellness programs across the North Fork. From one-day camps to Sunday morning sessions, there’s a wellness solution for all.
Kids Fitness Training at The Heart of It, Aquebogue
Running weekly beginning on Monday, July 5, The Heart of It welcomes kids ages 8 and up for a full-body strengthening workout. The class will focus on proper form, mobility, agility, and overall sports conditioning while having fun. Kids will dive into cross-training circuits, cardio and endurance, speed and agility, and mind/body connection. The cost is $25/session, or sign up for a multi-class package for a discount. One-Day Mental Performance Youth Camp at Apex Minds, Cutchogue
Not just for athletes, this one-day session by Apex Minds, which is scheduled for Saturday, July 18, is designed to give young people practical skills they can use in school, sports, and everyday life. This immersive mental performance experience will teach kids and teens how to stay calm, focused, and confident under pressure through engaging, hands-on training. Session 1 is for children ages 8-14 and will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Session 2 is for teens ages 15+ and will run from 2 to 6 p.m. This one-day camp will be held at NoFo Wellness in Cutchogue. Calm Yoga Kids Series at The Giving Room, Southold
In this four-week series hosted at The Giving Room, kids ages 7 to 12 will go on a four-week journey focusing on a different principle each week. Week 1: Stillness — Quiet like a turtle; Week 2: Listening — Ears like a fox; Week 3: Groundedness & Strength — Strong like a bear; and Week 4: Community — Together like a flock. Through movement, breathing, storytelling, and games, kids will learn simple tools to calm their bodies, build confidence, and connect with others. Kids Strength and Sports Conditioning at Underground Training, Southold
Keep your athlete’s skill sharp this summer with Underground Training’s 6-week kids’ program. Beginning on July 9, kids are invited to join this fun, high-energy program designed to help build strength, speed, agility, and confidence, on and off the field. In these sessions, athletes will improve their strength and power, speed and agility, injury prevention, confidence and discipline, and overall athletic performance. The sessions will run on Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:15 for kids ages 7 to 9, and on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:15 for kids ages 10 to 12. The cost of the six-week program is $220/person. Register here.
Youth Flag Football with Aldrich Sports, Mattituck
Sunday mornings in the summer are officially for flag football! Aldrich Sports has launched a six-week youth flag football league for all kids ages 7 to 12. This co-ed league is designed to help young athletes develop their football skills, build confidence, make friends, and have fun. Each week will feature instruction and skill development, multiple flag football games, fun competitions and activities, and team-building and sportsmanship in a high-energy atmosphere. The league will run from July 12 to August 9 on Sunday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. Kids will be divided by age: Group 1, ages 6-9, and Group 2, ages 10-12. All levels welcome.
