Fizz & Fry at Sparkling Pointe

Though we felt like it may never arrive, the unofficial kick-off to summer is here! With a weekend forecast full of not-quite-beach weather, we’re looking to North Fork establishments that offer family-friendly settings to fill our long weekend. At each of these five North Fork locales, you’re invited to come as you are with toddlers to teens and all in between. Here’s where (and when!) you can find family-friendly places to hang out on the North Fork.


Fizz & Fry Mondays at Sparkling Pointe, Southold

Gather at Sparkling Pointe on Monday evenings from 4:30 to 7 p.m. all summer long (beginning on 5/25 for a night of sparkling wine and food presented by Balo’s Foods. The menu features popcorn chicken, a fried shrimp basket, fish and chips, Balo’s famous seafood stuffies, tacos, empanadas, and more — something for everyone in your crew. Jamesport Farm Brewery, Riverhead

One of our family’s fav North Fork spots to hang with friends, this family-friendly Riverhead brewery features a sprawling lawn with plenty of picnic tables to spread out. Gather at Jamesport Farm Brewery with friends, kiddos, and pups to enjoy food (rotating daily food truck on-site), drinks, music, and more. Also, don’t sleep on their Friday Night Summer Sunset Sessions with live music each Friday night from 5 to 8 p.m. — the perfect way to welcome the weekend. Closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Little Creek Oyster Farm & Market, Greenport

Little Creek Oyster Market & Farm

Tucked on Carpenter Street in Greenport, Little Creek Oyster’s new home features a multi-level, indoor-outdoor space that’s family-friendly and fun. If your kiddo isn’t into oysters, don’t worry, there’s plenty on the menu, including hot dogs and chowder, though we def suggest they try to throw one back AND that you video the experience — a North Fork rite of passage. Open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 9 p.m., Fridays from 12 to 9 p.m., and Sundays from 12 to 8 p.m. Visit here to learn more.

Sunset Fridays at Palmer Vineyards, Riverhead

Head to family-friendly, Palmer Vineyards on Friday nights between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. throughout the summer for wine, live music, wood-fired pizza, and sunsets over the vines while your kid crew happily plays with friends new and old. Visit here to learn more.

Low Tide Bar at SoundView, Greenport

For the best sunset in town, plus a family-friendly vibe, visit Low Tide Bar at SoundView. Open Friday through Sunday through the summer, beginning on Friday, 5/22, this family-friendly spot features live music, bites, and drinks.
